Walking Into Spider Webs

Really. Eww eww eww. In case my neighbor visitors are wondering, we were not decorating for Halloween. Our shrubs were invaded by giant spiders, and they became engulfed in webs. I had to peel them away with an old broom handle. Thankfully, no spiders took refuge inside the house. As I finally reached the last shrub, I had to stop. This seemed too perfect – beautiful, even – so I left it there.

Spider Web

I may regret that in about a week. We’ll see.

We are getting a new gutter system soon. We already got the written estimate, and they said they could schedule our installation around the end of the month. I am relieved. Our gutters have worried me for so long!

We’ve been doing the basics to prepare for fall. The gazebo and lawn furniture have been packed into the garage. I organized the garage closet and managed to donate a few bags of housewares. I have been wanting a fall wreath for the front door. So far, this is the extent of my festive additions:

Those guys set me back about $4.50. Not bad.

Spring Cleaning

Well, we have officially lived here for one year. In some ways, time has passed quickly. The amount of work involved with home ownership was about what we expected, but it will be very busy soon. Spring is here! I am almost 36 weeks pregnant, so I have a few more weeks of limitations. I sneaked out to the garage after Micah left today, planning to sweep the floor. It turned into more work as I started organizing. The goal was to arrange things so that both cars could fit inside, and I accomplished that! The photo section is now updated. The garage has never been this clean and organized. Let’s hope we can keep it that way!

I’m sure there will be more updates in the near future, as the warm weather approaches.

The Little Things I Can Do

First of all… Thank you for the comments! I really appreciate them, especially for the sake of knowing someone actually reads this. I’ve become a little too obsessed with my Dyson vaccuum. I guess it’s because I have to clean it out every night (it’s bagless), and I actually see all the stuff that it picks up.

Micah is putting together a couple of the girls’ birthday gifts. My parents are visiting on Saturday, so we are going to order a cake and have a little celebration here. I have kept busy this weekend as well. I painted the entire left wall of the garage. It was a pretty gross job, and I found myself cleaning up a lot of old cobwebs. I stuck with plain white paint, since that would look the cleanest.
The built-in shelving was a tedious job, but in the end it was all worth it.

I shopped around a bit, and choose flooring for the downstairs area. If you look at the image on the floorplan page, it includes the bathroom, hallway, and closet. Micah left it in my hands, so I chose this:

I think it will look really nice. Anything is better than the way it looks now!
