Our Product Reviews

We purchased a lot of baby gear in the first two years of our children's lives. These items were tried and tested repeatedly, in a hectic world where everything came in "twos". Later, with the addition of our third child, we learned even more about what products are worthwhile. Save money (and a lot of stress) by learning which products are useful and durable.

Delta Luv Sleigh Crib

Look no further for the perfect crib! It snaps together in minutes and is easy to move, but is incredibly safe and sturdy. This crib is highly affordable. Its sleek design gives the appearance of a more expensive crib, and you'll find it durable enough to use again for all your children.

Eddie Bauer Wood High Chair

This sturdy, traditional style high chair is well worth its price tag. The wood does not stain like plastic chairs, there are fewer crevices to reach and clean, and the tray is just the right size. The chair's legs are not angled outward like those of plastic high chairs, which saves plenty of space in the kitchen.

Fisher-Price Baby Papasan Infant Seat

This popular infant seat continues to evolve, and we can see why! It's more than just a "bouncy seat". It features several songs and a gentle vibration setting, incredibly comfortable and soft padding, and a headrest. Babies love it, and instantly feel relaxed. You won't know how you got by without it - especially during baby's first days.

Fisher-Price Nature's Touch Baby Papasan Cradle Swing

The name is a mouthful, but then again, this product is loaded with features! This cradle swing is high-priced (we found it in like-new condition for about 1/3 of its original price). However, it can be rotated to rock from side to side or faced forward as a conventional swing. Animated birds and other creatures rotate above baby's head, and there are many sound and music settings. If you can afford it, this is an adorable swing. Its seat is a bit too upright for some newborns, but it features a cushion in the head area to help.

Baby Trend Triple Stroller

Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of raising three small children? You'll be on the go more than you think. A triple stroller might always feel oversized, but Baby Trend has done a great job of making it a bit easier to keep moving. This stroller opens and closes very easily, and its wheels don't become stuck or sluggish. It has a tray compartment with cup holders in the front and back, and plenty of room for your kids to grow. Just make sure you measure your car's trunk area first, as it is a bit long.

ChilDesigns Natural Crib

Ahh, the excitement of early pregnancy. You want to find the perfect crib for your baby. This model seemed to be a great deal, and we even located a second crib of the same model on eBay. Then, we decided to put the cribs together. The first one was very wobbly. The wheels (which were necessary because of our thick carpeting) always sat unevenly. They also fell off too easily. The second crib, which came in full packaging, had no headboard piece. Having been in storage for many months, we knew it was too late to contact the seller and ask for a refund. I also knew I was going to give birth soon, and couldn't wait months for a replacement part to ship.

Maclaren Rally Twin Stroller

This was our best investment. At around $300.00, the Maclaren twin stroller is lightweight, durable, and compact. It was easy to fold up and throw into the trunk of our Saturn SL2, especially during those crowded parking lot someone's-waiting-for-my-space situations. It's endured two years of rain, snow, and mud - from Boston to the Berkshires. The twins fit comfortably in a reclined position from birth onward, and there's still plenty of room to grow.

Fisher-Price Take Along Swing

Why bother with conventional swings? The Take Along Swing has the power and functionality you need without taking up a lot of space. At times, having a swing is priceless, but your baby will probably use it for fewer months than you anticipate. This product folds easily and has a good weight capacity. It's motor is strong and will last long enough for you to pass it down to your future children.

Fisher-Price Swing 'n Meals
We found this "wonderful" product at a closeout sale when we first started planning our family. It's multi-functionality was appealing - swing and high chair in one! Not only was it difficult to convert, but it opened into a large "a" shape that rendered it useless in corners and small kitchens. The seat was too small by six months of age, and the high chair tray was too small.

Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat

The Graco SnugRide is one of the most affordable, popular infant car seats on the market, and are sold at stores ranging from the likes of Wal-Mart to Sears and Babies R Us. We learned quickly that this was a highly safe, easy to install, and lightweight car seat. Don't buy just for the brand. The SnugRide is a quality product that is available in an array of constantly-changing prints and colors. Wash the fabric cover (or order a custom-made design on eBay), and you're ready to re-use this car seat.

Dorel Toddler Bed

When your baby first attempts to climb out of her crib, you will probably panic. If you're anything like me, you'll find yourself frantically searching the internet for a high quality toddler bed. When I realized that few stores carried them (especially two that matched), I made a final stop at our local Wal-Mart. At $40.00, the Dorel Toddler bed was an astoundingly affordable option. I also liked the fact that it was made of natural wood, unlike the cheap-looking plastic beds I had seen previously. The package stated the beds were intended for children 15 months of age and older, which was perfect at the time. That night, the girls fell asleep in their respective beds, and we've never had a problem since. These beds are very low to the ground and have sturdy side rails, so we don't need to worry about injuries due to falling. Lastly, each bed only took about 10 minutes to assemble.
