Wav Girl's FAQs

Q. Why are you called WavGirl?
A. About ten years ago, everyone on the internet (or at least on AOL) was hanging out in chat rooms trading WAVs... Music clips, sound clips from movies and TV shows, and stupid jokes. I had so much fun with it for a while that I chose the screen name WavGirl... Shortly after that, I created my first web site. 20,000 Hits later, the name stuck, and I purchased WavGirl.Com.

Q. How do you make your web pages?
A. I use windows notepad and type all of the code myself. I don't bother with HTML editors at all.

Q. What made you interested in web design, and how did you learn?
A. I became interested in making my own web site in 1996, when I was 16. I started out for the first six months or so with AOL's Personal Publisher II, which was replaced by another editor around 1999. When I was done creating a page, I looked at the source and started to learn basic skeleton tags and tags for text and images. In 1998, I took down my entire site, which had expanded a lot in its two year run, and rewrote everything myself. After that, I created everything on my own.

Q. What about images?
A. I still use an old program called Image Pals 2.0, which was released in 1996. It's great for tracing imges and applying basic effects. In 2003, I decided to break down and use something more advanced, so most of the newer content was created with Paint Shop Pro. This also led me to use Animation Shop in lieu of GIF Construction Set. In 2001, I purchased Macromedia Flash and started implementing that type of media into all of my sites.

Q. And the personal sites - Doesn't it bother you that people know so much about your life?
A. I am very happy with my life and what I've accomplished, so I don't mind if people want to know what I'm up to. It's flattering that people would actually be interested!
